The weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Monday evening, October 4, 2004 at 7:30 p.m.

Present: Cheryl Pooler, Director of Assessing
Curtis Gluck, Assessor
Linda Libby, Assessor
Ms. Pooler and the members of the Board of Assessors were present to recommend to the Board that they not split the tax rate for fiscal year 2005, as this would be considered anti-business and would discourage business from locating in the community.
M/Walsh, s/Greene, a unanimous vote, vote not to split the tax rate for fiscal year 2005.
M/Walsh, s/Greene, a unanimous vote, vote not to adopt the Supplemental Billing preamble legislation for fiscal year 2005.
M/Walsh, s/Greene, a unanimous vote, approve the minutes of the September 27, 2004 meeting.
M/Walsh, s/Greene, a unanimous vote, approve the change in the appointment of Clarence Willard from June 30, 2005 to the next election, to fill the unexpired term of Ron Ross.
M/Walsh, s/Greene, a unanimous vote, approve the request of Chief Silva to appoint Officer Richard Eldredge as Fence Viewer for the fiscal year 05 ending June 30, 2005.

Staff Report
Yellow trash bag info – Affecting large bags only, beginning after Columbus Day, the stores will be selling large bags in packs of 10, the Sate Contract is requiring this change. The bag price will remain the same at $1.25 per bag, but large bags will now be $12.50 per pack of 10. Small bags will continue to be sold in 5 packs at $3.75 per pack.

A fax from the Town Clerk regarding the preservation of public records. Mr. Samia to look into whether or not the minutes are being properly preserved.
Open Forum

m/Walsh, s/Greene, a unanimous vote, move to close Open Session and go into Executive Session for the purposes of discussing pending litigation and labor issues and will not be returning to Open Session.
